Mini GT and Kaido House Guide: Item Numbers, Chases, Releases
November 3, 2026
Short answer: every Mini GT has an official item number like MGT01005, and the box prints the short form, ▶1005. Kaido House, the sister line designed by Jun Imai and built by Mini GT, uses KHMG numbers (KHMG241, printed //241 above the car name). Suffixes mark versions: -L / -R for left- and right-hand drive sold as separate items, -MJ for Mijo’s US releases, and a handful of retailer and event codes. Chase cars carry the regular number, so the number alone never tells you it is a chase. As of November 2026, Hunt64’s catalog counts about 200 new Mini GT item numbers a year since 2024, and 30 to 46 Kaido House.
What Mini GT is
Mini GT is the 1:64 line of TSM (TSM-Models), introduced in 2017 according to its own site, with the first releases in 2018. The brand’s own description of its cars: full diecast construction, a fully detailed under-chassis, soft rubber tires, rubber side mirrors on most models, and both left-hand and right-hand drive versions of most models. That last promise is behind most of the numbering questions below.
The range leans on licensed tuner builds and race liveries. Liberty Walk (LB-WORKS) alone accounts for 217 of the 1,184 Mini GT releases in our catalog, followed by IMSA (61) and SUPER GT (30) race cars, plus Pandem, Top Secret, VeilSide and a 007 series.
How Mini GT numbering works
The item number. Official numbers are MGT plus five digits. MGT00001 is a Championship White Honda Civic Type R (FK8) from 2018, and announced items are now past MGT01400 (the highest in our catalog is MGT01418). Numbers are handed out roughly in announcement order, so the number also tells you roughly how old a car is.
The number on the box. The box drops the MGT prefix and the padding zeros and puts a small red ▶ in front: MGT01005 becomes ▶1005. If you only have the box in hand, that short number is enough to find the car.
LHD and RHD. Usually both drive sides share one number. In our catalog, 117 Mini GT releases are documented as made in both versions under one number, 84 as LHD only and 56 as RHD only. Some items carry the drive side in the official number instead (48 in our catalog end in -L or -R). And in two cases one printed number covers two different cars: 282 is both MGT00282-L, a Honda S2000 CR in Rio Yellow Pearl, and MGT00282-R, a Honda S2000 Type S in New Indy Yellow Pearl; 331 is both MGT00331-L, a Mazda Miata MX-5 (NA), and MGT00331-R, the same car sold under its Japanese name, Eunos Roadster.
Mijo releases (-MJ). -MJ items were made for Mijo Exclusives in the US. The Mini GT wiki notes that most are LHD, that many are the regular car in a blister pack rather than a new colour, and that the true Mijo exclusives came in a black box.
Other suffixes. Retailer and event versions get their own codes: -TRU (Toys”R”Us Japan), -SP (Sinopec in China), -D1 (Japanese D1 Grand Prix drift cars) and -BL / -BL2 (the 2026 Fast & Furious blisters: 1250 and 1251 each exist as a regular -BL blister and a Malaysia Diecast Expo 2026 -BL2 blister). All told, 215 of our 1,184 Mini GT releases are regional, retailer or event exclusives.
Sets and accessories. Multi-car sets get MGTS numbers (MGTS0001 is the four-car 2016 Le Mans Ford GT set, limited to 5,000), and the cars inside usually have MGT numbers of their own. Trailers, figures and pit tents are MGTAC items, and the boxy QubeCarz line uses QZ numbers.

Chase cars: the number will not tell you
Mini GT does not list chases on its official site, and a chase uses the same item number as the regular release. What the collector record documents:
- Mijo blisters (US). The Mini GT wiki records an unpainted, bare-metal chase version for the Mijo blister releases, for the US market only, one per carton of 24. A blister shows the car, so these are found by looking, not by luck.
- Some regional exclusives. Wiki photo captions show chase versions for several Indonesian exclusives and for the TarmacWorks LB-WORKS pair, MGT00145 and MGT00146.
- Kaido House. The wiki notes a chase version of each car in the early Kaido House waves. When the line launched in 2021, Jun Imai told Japanese Nostalgic Car he wanted chases to be indistinguishable from the regular car unless you open the box, so dealers could not pick them out and mark them up.
In practice: compare the car with the box art (bare metal or a different colour where the box shows paint), be careful with sealed “chase” listings you cannot see inside, and record a chase in your notes against the regular item number, because that is the number it carries.
Kaido House: Jun Imai’s line, built by Mini GT
Jun Imai designed Japanese castings for Hot Wheels, the Hakosuka Skyline among them, before leaving in 2018. Kaido House is his own brand, named after the Japanese kaido racer style, and its diecast line is produced by Mini GT: the boxes read KAIDO★HOUSE x MINI GT, and the official Mini GT site lists the cars alongside its own. Wave 1, a Datsun 510 Pro Street with an opening hood over a detailed engine, opened for pre-order on April 5, 2021 and began delivering that July.
What sets it apart from Mini GT:
- Builds, not replicas. Mini GT reproduces real cars and race liveries; Kaido House cars are Jun Imai’s own builds. Datsun and Nissan account for 100 of the 162 Kaido House releases in our catalog, the Datsun 510 alone for 45.
- Versions instead of colourways. Most names end in a version, like Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) Kaido Works V4 (129 of 162 do). Sub-lines include Kaido Works, Kaido GT, Kaido Racing and Kaido Street, plus collaborations such as Tamiya x Kaido House.
- Monthly announcements. New cars are announced on pre-order sheets labelled by month, such as “KHMG November 2025 PREORDER”.
- A higher price point. Across the 8 Kaido House releases with a published median on Hunt64, the typical one was bought for about $29, against about $19 across the 48 Mini GT releases with one (global USD medians, as of November 2026).
How many come out each year
Releases per year in Hunt64’s catalog, as of November 2026. One row per item number, so a car made in both drive sides under one number counts once; the 23 Mini GT sets are included.
| Year | Mini GT | Kaido House |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 7 | |
| 2019 | 59 | |
| 2020 | 97 | |
| 2021 | 104 | 4 |
| 2022 | 129 | 15 |
| 2023 | 156 | 18 |
| 2024 | 213 | 37 |
| 2025 | 202 | 30 |
| 2026 so far | 162 | 46 |
| 2027 (announced pre-orders) | 55 | 12 |
Mini GT doubled its output between 2021 and 2024 and has held near 200 a year since, roughly four new numbers a week. Kaido House has grown every year but one. A note on the years: where the Mini GT wiki gives a release month we use it; newer items are dated from when their official photos appeared, so a car released around New Year can sit in the neighbouring year.
Keeping track of a Mini GT collection
At four new numbers a week plus exclusives, memory stops working quickly. For each car, record:
- The full item number with its suffix (MGT00282-R, not 282) when you know it, or the box number when you do not.
- The drive side, if the item was made in both.
- The packaging: box, Mijo blister, event blister or set.
- Exclusive or event, and where you bought it.
- Chase, as a note against the regular number.
- What you paid.
The usual traps: one printed number covering two cars (282 and 331), the blister and box versions of the same car, cars that only came in sets, and pre-order items whose details change before release (the official site marks each item Pre-Order or Released). A spreadsheet handles this fine at 50 cars; our inventory spreadsheet template works for any brand. Past a few hundred, most collectors want photos and search.
How Hunt64 handles Mini GT and Kaido House
New in Hunt64 2.4, Mini GT (1,180+ releases, 2018-2027) and Kaido House (160+, 2021-2027) have their own catalogs, built from the official Mini GT site with official photos that collector photos replace as they come in. The scanner reads the number on the box, ▶1005 or //241, and goes straight to that item; when one printed number covers two items, like 282, the name on the box decides between them, or you pick from the two. Search also finds a car by its box number, and batch adding (also new in 2.4) lets you shoot up to 30 boxes back to back and confirm them afterwards. As of November 2026, 1,111 Hunt64 collectors keep 2,121 Mini GT cars and 292 keep 463 Kaido House.
Where it falls short, plainly:
- No chase flag for Mini GT or Kaido House yet: a chase shares the regular number, so the catalog has nothing to tell them apart. Use My Notes.
- One entry per item number. A Mijo blister of a regular car goes on that car’s entry; note the packaging if it matters to you.
- Not in the catalog: QubeCarz, accessories and figures. You can still add them by hand with a photo.
- Prices only where 5+ collectors contributed, which so far is 48 Mini GT and 8 Kaido House releases.
- No desktop app and no PDF export (CSV export works on every plan). The free plan holds 100 cars, plus 50 for every friend who joins with your invite code; Pro is unlimited (US: $2.99/month or $19.99/year).

Frequently asked questions
What is the number on a Mini GT box?
It is the official item number without its prefix and padding zeros. A box marked ▶1005 is item MGT01005, the Toyota GR86 HKS Type R 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon. Kaido House works the same way: //241 on the box is KHMG241. That short number is what collectors type into a search and what the Hunt64 scanner reads.
What do -L, -R and -MJ mean after a Mini GT number?
-L and -R mark left-hand and right-hand drive versions sold as separate items. Most Mini GT cars made in both versions share one number without a suffix. -MJ marks items made for Mijo Exclusives in the US, mostly blister packs. Other suffixes mark retailer and event versions, such as -TRU for the Japanese Toys R Us or -BL2 for an event blister.
How can you tell if a Mini GT is a chase?
Not from the number: a chase uses the same item number as the regular release. The Mini GT wiki records unpainted bare-metal chases for the US Mijo blister releases, one per carton of 24, and chases for some regional exclusives. Compare the car with the box art, and record the chase in your notes against the regular number.
Is Kaido House the same as Mini GT?
Kaido House is designer Jun Imai's brand, and Mini GT produces its diecast line, so the boxes read KAIDO★HOUSE x MINI GT and the numbers start with KHMG instead of MGT. Mini GT replicates real cars and race liveries; Kaido House cars are Jun Imai's own builds, mostly Datsun and Nissan, with versions (V1, V2) instead of colourways and chases hidden inside the box.
How many Mini GT cars come out each year?
About 200 new item numbers a year lately. Hunt64's catalog dates 213 Mini GT releases to 2024, 202 to 2025 and 162 to 2026 so far, plus announced pre-orders, as of November 2026. Kaido House has added 30 to 46 a year since 2024.
Is there an app that scans Mini GT boxes?
Yes. New in Hunt64 2.4, the scanner reads the box number (▶1005 on Mini GT, //241 on Kaido House) and matches it against a catalog of 1,180+ Mini GT and 160+ Kaido House releases. When one printed number covers two different items, the name on the box or your pick decides.
