What the numbers say

The F40 is in a league of its own. At $176 it is valued at twice the next car. The 2026 mainline has its own five-car Ferrari series, and the F40 is one of the most loved shapes in the hobby, so its Super Treasure Hunt was always going to be the grail of the year.

“Paid” tells you how people got them. For most of the list the median paid sits near $3, which means collectors found them on the pegs at retail. Four cars break that pattern: the Mustang GTD ($22), ‘64 Impala ($30), Sierra Cosworth ($27) and Custom Otto ($22) were more often bought from other collectors or resellers, which usually means they were harder to find in stores.

The floor is still several times a regular car. The least valuable priced 2026 Super Treasure Hunt, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, is valued at $15, and most of the rest at $30 or more, against $3.33 for a typical 2026 mainline car.

How to spot a Super Treasure Hunt at the pegs

A Super Treasure Hunt uses the same casting, and usually the same card art, as a regular release that year. The differences are on the car:

  1. Spectraflame paint. A deep, glossy, almost candy-like metallic finish that looks clearly richer than the regular car’s paint, even through the blister.
  2. Real Riders rubber tires. Real rubber on detailed rims instead of the one-piece plastic wheels of a mainline car. This is usually the fastest tell.
  3. A small TH logo in the car’s graphics.
  4. The card. The card usually carries a gold circle-flame logo behind the car.

Because the regular version and the Super share card art, a quick glance at the card is not enough. Look at the car itself, and check the back rows of the peg, where collectors and restockers rarely look.

If you scan the card with Hunt64, both versions show up and you confirm the one in your hand, which is also how you check whether you already own it. We explain how that works in our Hot Wheels scanner guide.

Regular Treasure Hunts in 2026

The regular Treasure Hunt is a different program: a limited mainline car marked with a flame logo, but with normal paint and plastic wheels. Fifteen 2026 regular Treasure Hunts are in the catalog, and collectors value them modestly:

Regular Treasure HuntValued at
2016 Ford GT Race$9.25
Amaru GTC$5.75
’87 Buick Regal GNX$5.69
Electro Silhouette$5.56
’92 Dodge Viper RT/10$5.00

The median is about $5.50, barely above a regular car. They are fun to find and good for set completion, but they are not the money cars. If a seller calls a regular Treasure Hunt “super rare”, now you know what collectors actually value it at.

Hunting tips for the rest of 2026

  • Learn the list above by toy number and color. The Super is always a specific color of a specific casting. Knowing “the blue Impala in Layin’ Low” saves you from checking every Impala.
  • Watch new mixes, not old pegs. The four newest Supers on this list are in the latest cases. Older pegs have usually been checked by the time you get there.
  • Check every car in a fresh case, not just the front. Super Treasure Hunts are seeded in small numbers per case, and a full peg is worth flipping through.
  • Record what you find the day you find it. Your copy then counts toward the community prices that make lists like this possible.

Where these values come from

Hunt64 collectors record what they paid for each car and what they value it at, in their own currency, converted to US dollars. For each release we publish the median, and only once at least five collectors have contributed, so a single wild sale cannot move it. Across all releases that is now about 58,000 purchase prices and 57,000 valuations from more than 7,200 collectors. More on the method in what Hot Wheels are really worth.

Older years are on the site too: every Super Treasure Hunt list from 2007 onward has its own page with the same community values.

Frequently asked questions

How many Super Treasure Hunts are there in 2026?

15 Super Treasure Hunts have been identified in the 2026 Hot Wheels mainline so far, from the Drift-Ender (13/250) to the '67 Pontiac Firebird 400 (249/250). Mattel spreads them across the year's case assortments, so the list can still grow while the last 2026 mixes ship.

What is the most valuable 2026 Super Treasure Hunt?

The Ferrari F40 Competizione (JJM17), valued at a median of about $176 by 48 collectors, followed by the Subaru Impreza WRX (about $90) and the Ford Mustang GTD (about $89).

How much is a 2026 Super Treasure Hunt worth?

The median 2026 Super Treasure Hunt is valued at about $62 by collectors, roughly 19 times the $3.33 median for a regular 2026 mainline car. Most found at retail cost the normal shelf price, around $3.

How do you tell a Super Treasure Hunt from a regular Hot Wheels?

A Super Treasure Hunt has Spectraflame paint (a deep metallic, almost candy finish), Real Riders rubber tires and a small TH logo in the car's graphics. The card usually shows a gold circle-flame logo behind the car. The regular release of the same casting has normal enamel paint and plastic wheels.

Are regular Treasure Hunts worth anything?

Not much. 2026 regular Treasure Hunts are valued at a median of about $5.50, compared with $3.33 for a regular mainline car. They are fun to find but they are not Super Treasure Hunts: no Spectraflame paint and no rubber tires.

Where do these values come from?

From Hunt64 collectors, who record what they paid for each car and what they value it at. A median is published only after at least five collectors have contributed, so a single sale cannot move it.
